From Chairman's Desk
“Shri C. B. Patel Research Centre for Chemistry and Biological Sciences (CBPRC) was established in 1991 as an autonomous Institute under the umbrella of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), a renowned Educational Trust. The Research Centre, recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Govt. of India, has a well defined mission: To conduct applied research on problems of national importance and to carry out time bound, contractual R & D work for the Industry. In addition, the Centre also trains and develops Students, Scientists and Technologists.
It is heartening to note that in recognition of the sustained, quality research conducted at the Research Centre, it has been approved by the Central Government for the purpose of clause (ii) of subsection (1) of Section 35 of the Income Tax Act (1961). The donors are allowed a weighted deduction of an amount equal to 175% of any sum paid to the Research Centre for Scientific research.
The Trustees and the staff of the Research Centre are fully aware that the growth achieved by this Centre would not have been possible without generous support from the Society by way of resource input and encouragement; they are also conscious of the fact that the Scientists have an obligation to discharge towards the Society. This very thought prompted the establishment of the Thalassaemia Unit in 1997 with support from Mumbai Thalassaemic Society (MTS) and Parents Association Thalassemic Unit Trust (PATUT). I am glad to inform you that several camps have been organized with their help and also help from Rotary Club and the Lions Club of Juhu.
I wish the team all the best in their endeavours.”
